Three Days at Sandbourne: A Santa Monica Itinerary

Day One: Arrival + Ocean Air

Three Days at Sandbourne: A Santa Monica ItineraryCheck In. Breathe Out.
Ease into your stay with a little downtime in your room — a true Santa Monica retreat with thoughtful design details. Take your time, enjoy the sea breeze, soak up city or ocean views, and, depending on your room, step out onto your own private balcony.

Walk to the Pier
Once you’ve settled in, take a walk and get acquainted with the neighborhood. The iconic Santa Monica Pier is minutes away, with its iconic Ferris wheel, vintage carousel, and welcoming breeze off the Pacific. It’s an easy first stop, and a fitting one. Go ahead and take the photo, it’s one of the most photographed places in the world for good reason.

Before you head out, swing by our Lobby Bar for Golden Hour (our take on happy hour). Enjoy a cocktail or a zero-proof spritz for a little something to ease you into the afternoon.

Dinner at Marelle
Tonight, there’s no need to venture beyond our doors. Marelle is just downstairs, and more than worth staying in for. Led by Culinary Director Raphael Lunetta (a Santa Monica local), the menu leans seasonal, effortless, and oh-so-fresh. Expect fresh-caught seafood, thoughtful share plates, and a cocktail list that pairs well with both.

If you’re not quite ready to call it after dinner, the poolside Sunset Lounge is just around the corner for a nightcap with a view. Paloma? Old Fashioned? We’ll mix you whatever the mood calls for.

Or…Go Out
Take a peek at what’s happening around town. Depending on the night, you might catch a show under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl, an open-air amphitheater known for its lineup of big-name concerts and classic films with live orchestra.

If sports or large-scale entertainment are more your speed, SoFi Stadium hosts everything from NFL games to bucket-list-level concert tours. Both venues are a short drive away, and worth planning ahead if there’s a headline act!

Day Two: Move, Explore & Create

Morning Workout or Beach Walk
Energize your morning at Sandbourne’s fitness center. Our gym is fully equipped with Pelotons, Pilates reformers, TRX, and Technogym gear. In need of a more scenic start to your day? Take a stroll along the shoreline or take the beach trail to stretch your legs a bit and enjoy the vitamin “sea”. Cap your morning off with some much-deserved time relaxing in our sauna and steam room.

Clay Date
Every Saturday at 11:00 AM, hotel guests are invited to join a complimentary ceramics class led by a local artist. These relaxed, hands-on sessions focus on pinch pots, ceramic tiles, and small keepsakes that make the perfect Santa Monica souvenir. .This 45-minute class is popular, so be sure to reserve your spot with the front desk in advance.

Guests are also welcome to enjoy our unique evening offering on select dates with our Champagne & Clay ceramics sessions. A little sculpting, a little sparkling, and a relaxed way to spend the night. Check our event calendar for upcoming dates and tickets.

Lunch + Afternoon in Venice
The afternoon is all about exploration along Abbot Kinney Boulevard, a quick 10-minute drive or rideshare from the hotel. The street has a little bit of everything: local shops and favorite brands, cafés and treats, and plenty of places to eat. Stop for lunch at Gjelina’s trendy yet inviting rooftop for wood-fired dishes and locally-sourced, seasonal plates, or Great White’s vibrant, coastal, all-day hub for fresh bowls, sandwiches, and Pacific-inspired plates..

Pool Dip + Dinner
Signature Santa Monica sunshine is calling your name from our pool. Picture yourself in a cabana, ordering a frozen delight, and soaking in beach views from our heated pool.

Make the most of your final Santa Monica night and dine around town. Ivy at the Shore’s tropical atmosphere with scenic Pacific views serves up fresh and seasonal Italian-inspired dishes. Tar & Roses delivers modern rustic cuisine in the form of local favorite dishes and daily specials sourced from the Santa Monica Farmers Market. Elephante’s sophisticated, breezy, and open-air rooftop ambiance sets an idyllic scene for light coastal Italian dishes and an extensive wine and craft cocktail menu. If an evening at a slower pace is more your forte, room service is but a phone call away and ready to serve a quintessential California culinary experience.

Day Three: A Slow Start + Soft Send-Off

Breakfast in Bed
No need to rush out. Indulge in a slow morning of room service as a send-off to your seaside abode. Choose from a platter of warm, house-made scones and croissants, fresh-squeezed juices, cage-free eggs cooked just how you like them, and seasonal fruit sourced from the farmers market just a few minutes away.

Santa Monica Farmers Market
Speaking of the farmers market, this is a must-see and do for any trip to Santa Monica. If you’re visiting on a Wednesday or Saturday, enjoy the easy 10-minute walk to the Santa Monica Farmers Market. A neighborhood fixture and a chef favorite, the market is full of ripe produce, wildflowers, and small-batch goods that make great souvenirs (or second breakfasts).

Explore Bergamot Station
If there’s time for one last adventure, make it Bergamot Station. Just a short drive from Sandbourne, this former rail yard turned dynamic cultural destination is home to a rotating mix of galleries, installations, performances, and community events. It’s a nice way to shift gears before heading out, especially if you’re into design, contemporary art, or just want one last hour that feels a little off the tourist track.
